Trans Narva suspected of betting fraud in Meistriliiga

So, it’s happened again. Another Baltic club stands accused of betting fraud, and Aivar Pohlak of the Estonian FA is already invoking the fate of Dinaburg Daugavpils, the Latvian side that was wound up following a betting scandal.

“According to the preliminary information both situations leave no room for suspicion,” said the president of the EFA Aivar Pohlak. “Unfortunately I have to take a stand and say that with these kind of cases it’s possible that the fate of Dinaburg Daugavpils will recur in Estonia. If the club can’t get things straight, the FA must take action.”

The matches under suspicion are the 3-0 loss to Levadia Tallinn in the opening round of Meistriliiga, and the 1-0 defeat to FC Lootus Kohtla-Järve.
