Tippeligaen, round 25: Media fervently hopes for actual excitement about the gold, young talented kid plays without a worry in the world.

As the battle for the may-be-important fourth place rages on, the mainstream media still prove to be a bunch of clueless cowards, preferring to seek out pretend drama that may or may not become real at some point in the future. NFN will thus be the only provider of the real drama RIGHT NOW, and [...]

Kongsvinger rely on rubber duckies as aid concert disappoints

21. September 2010

After Norwegian Premier League club Kongsvinger last week admitted that they are “technically bankrupt”, an aid concert was hastily arranged this weekend. The concert needed to attract a crowd of 200 to break even, but only a profoundly depressing 20 people showed up, making matters even worse for the reasonably doomed club. Now Kongsvinger are [...]

Tippeliga update: The least anticipated comeback since what’s-his-name.

What the hell? Is the unjustified and unreseached opinions on the Tippeliga back on NFN? So nobody’s died? Was it just an incredibly lazy writer? Pretty much yes. There were no rumors of my death, but if there had been, they would have been exagerrated. Also, in my defense, my real job’s been taking up [...]

Tippeligaen round 14: Molde’s merriment maliciously mauled

9. June 2010

What does NFN do when some of the more exciting endings to matches happen in a round of the Tippeliga? That’s right, we mess it up and get a delayed report. Partially because of boring stuff like real jobs, and partially because this writer can be a lazy bastard. Oh well, you get what you [...]

Tippeligaen round 13: The reason for sorcasms!

26. May 2010

NFN continues to be somewhat semi-accurate in match predictions, but we are certainly right on the money when it comes to capturing the -spirit- of this year’s Tippeliga. Almost every game had some neat gameplay happening, or somebody did something incredibly stupid. And that’s just what NFN said would happen! The result of this correctness, not to mention the combined entertainment of nice matches and stupid players, gave us all a sarcastic orgasm, or a sorcasm.

Tippeliga preview round 13: It doesn’t get any better than this

21. May 2010

Still high on the schadenfreude endorphins that came from this week’s cup upsets, this NFN writer is graciously feeling that the Tippeliga is right where it belongs. When the players fail to create entertainment on the field, there are plenty of people who will gladly say stupid things to a camera in the hopes that the match will look better in comparison. Although it can sometimes make his job harder, seeing as it can be troublesome writing sarcastic comments about something that is so absurd that it provides its own irony without any help. Absurdity and weak excuses are -my- job, dammit!

The Tippeliga Reviewer that isn’t fired for competence

18. May 2010

Before taking over the prediction part, I was told to maintain NFN’s rather low standards of accuracy, lest I get fired from this gig, and also get a good “high school swirling” going on*. Thankfully, I have proved to be just as incompetent as Lars Sivertsen, so here are your excuses for why I was wrong most of the time:

The earliest preview, and the new evil overlord of NFN’s Norwegian segment

OK, with Lars out of the picture, that leaves the door open for me gaining world domination… MOWAHAHAHA! Anyway, this preview’s a bit early because the Norwegian cup is also starting soon.

Round 8: Vivacious Vålerenga violate Odd

27. April 2010

Well that was strange. Eight rounds in and the Tippeliga still doesn’t make much sense, but even in that context Vålerenga inflicting a 6-1 smackdown on Odd was a bit of a bolt from the blue. Also, reluctant and grudge-laden credit where it’s due: Brann were really quite good..Tweet

Tippeligaen: Mini-round and Midweek Miracles

22. April 2010

For two different reasons, there were two games played on Wednesday. Since Lars Sivertsen is notorious for only being happy about doing one preview and review per week, I’ll put up a short and informative (on the internet, nobody can see you trying to keep a straight face) post about these two games.

Round 6 Roundup and Cheeky Round 7 Preview

This week Norwegians looked to the West where a massive eruption, the likes of which hasn’t been seen in decades, spewed all kinds of ash and particles into the atmosphere, possibly complicating the everyday lives of millions of Europeans. Also, in addition to Kjetil Rekdal’s post-match team talk, there was some unfortunate business with a [...]

The Preview That Might Emigrate

Midweek-mayhem in the Tippeliga, as a bunch of lazy, overpaid players will perform poorly and blame the fact that they just played at the weekend. And that’s just Brann..Tweet

Round 5: Kongsvinger Win Game But Lose Manager

13. April 2010

Confusion all around in the fifth round as Kongsvinger perplex the masses by winning a game, then their manager resigns the next day to similar effect. Also, Odd Grenland aren’t Real Madrid. It’s all very strange.Tweet

Rosenborg win in unimpressive style, Brann collapse in spectacularly entertaining fashion, Start are superb value for money for the neutral, Kjetil Rekdal is annoyed even though Aalesund won, the fourth round saw some of what passes for normality in the Tippeliga restored..Tweet

The Preview That’s On the Road and Somewhat Distracted

3. April 2010

Three rounds into the 2010 Tippeliga and it’s still all a bit random, with pre-season favorites struggling to live up to their billing and plucky underdogs punching way above their weight. The fourth round might bring a bit of clarity, though this is the Tippeliga and clarity tends to be in short supply..Tweet
