JJK have had an encouraging start to their first ever campaign in the Finnish top flight. They have already managed to limit TPS, Haka and HJK to draws, and nothing suggests that they could not cause another upset against Honka, especially as Honka have had a poor start to this year’s Veikkausliiga. I wouldn’t necessarily go the whole hog and predict JJK’s first win, but a draw would be a good bet.
Honka have no reason to be complacent, and they aren’t. Head coach Mika Lehkosuo emphasises one on ones, making a clear distinction to Honka’s usual way of playing that involves keeping the ball and moving towards the opposition’s goal with short passes.
“We were good at one-on-ones against IFK Mariehamn and TamU, but not for the whole 90 minutes. We must be ready to do the hard work as soon as we hop off the bus”, Lehkosuo outlined when interviewed for Veikkausliiga.com.
JJK are missing Teemu Pulkkinen, Antto Tapaninen and Lee Ho Jin, while Jukka-Pekka Tuomanen is doubtful. Honka go into the game without John Weckström and Markus Paatelainen, while it is unsure whether Aleksander Kokko and Sampo Koskinen are fit to play.
