Wapputime preview part 1: Veikkausliiga Round 4

Finland, Veikkausliiga

Tampere United v VPS, Saturday 6:30pm

The first TamU home game after CEO Sami Salonen and Sporting Director Jarkko Wiss left the club promises to be an eventful affair. Fans are unhappy at the way both men have been treated, as Wiss was not just a Sporting Director but TamU’s most successful captain of all time. Expect some kind of protest.

Ahlvik, Aalto, Smith and Tuuri are out for VPS, with just Järvinen and James missing for TamU. TamU did not react well to the backroom upheaval when they played MyPa away, and I expect their poor form to continue.

Away win

MyPa v Inter Turku, Saturday, 4pm

Inter will travel without Pertot and Gomez Martila, MyPa are missing Tuunainen. Job Dragtsma told Veikkausliiga.com that he expects two attacking teams to contest the game, and after MyPa’s 4-1 demolition of TamU this week the Myllykoski crowd might be in for a goalfest.

Draw

Haka v Honka, Monday 7pm, TV game live on Urheilukanava

Haka’s owner Sedu Koskinen has been loudly proclaiming his side’s potential reinforcements.

“If we get this guy, he will be one of the best Veikkausliiga players of all time,” Koskinen told Ilta Sanomat.

This eagerly awaited new arrival is Argentinian, but he will not play against Honka. Gabriel Ruiz – another Argentinian – has the chance to impress the Haka coaching staff over the weekend after arriving in the country on Wednesday, and Zambian Given Singuluma has received international clearance and could also play.

What about TPS – Jaro? Is Jens Portin still injuried?

That game is coming up in Wapputime preview part 2! Sorry for the delay people, but Wappu means one thing and one thing only: Finland is drunk.

No mate, it means two things.

The other one is the Mother of all Hangovers.
