Allsvenskan roundup: Has Hysén scored goal of the year already?

Allsvenskan, Sweden

IFK Göteborg won 2-1 against FF kalmar, thanks to a suberb goal from Tobias Hysen which was immediately hailed by some commentators as the goal of the season. It’s some finish, but not quite that good, as Kalmar goalkeeper Petter Wastå will want to look at his positioning, but well-taken all the same from IFK’s midfielder.

At Söderstadion silence reigned, as some Hammarby fans protested against their side’s appalling home record. The Södermalm club have lost four home games in a row (discounting their derby against Djurgården, which was played at Råsunda), an appalling run of results that is their worst since 1966. Former Bajen midfielder Jeffrey Aubyn – who now plays for Sunday’s opponents Malmö FF – is baffled.

“It’s really strange,” Aubyn told DN. “When I was playing there, it didn’t matter who we were playing – we went out onto the pitch feeling like we were made of steel.”

Hammarby fans have a reputation for unrelenting support, even when their team does little to deserve it. It was a bit of a surprise, then, when a couple of hundred fans turned up to training on Saturday with a banner reading “if you give everything – then we will too!”.

Not all Hammarby fans agreed with the ’silent half’ protest, with Bajengruppen leader Frank Åhgren particularly critical.

“I’m saying nothing about the different ways in which they show their frustration, but it is not in line with Hammarby fandom. What makes us unique is that we stand and sing even when we’re losing 4-1 to Kalmar,” said Åhgren.

They will have plenty of opportunity to perfect that supporting style this season, according to Svenska Dagbladet’s Jan Majlard, who believes Bajen should primarily aim to avoid relegation this year.

Elsewhere, Kim Olsen was the hero for Örebro in a 2-0 win, ÖSK’s their fourth home win in a row against a poor GAIS team. They rose to fourth in the Allsvenskan table. Elfsborg won 4-0 against Halmstad on Saturday, and Gefle beat Brommapojkarna 3-2 in Gävle. Djurgården-AIK, Örgryte-Häcken and Helsingborgs-Trelleborg will all be played on Monday.
