Umeå is in talks with Los Angeles Sol in the WPS league about the American team possibly guesting Sweden for a couple of exhibition matches in September, after the American season has finished. Umeå’s general manager Britta Åkerlund told this at the press conference following Umeå’s match against Piteå yesterday, Sunday.
The Swedish league will be on hold for almost two months over the UEFA Women’s Euro, from late July to late September. There will be a need for the Damallsvenskan teams to find some kind of friendly competitions during that time. Åkerlund stressed that the talks with the Los Angeles club is still in the early stages and nothing is set.

What seems set on the other hand is Djurgården getting to play the USA national team. Djurgården will, traditionally if three times counts as tradition, have their preseason training camp in Algarve, just before the Algarve Cup week. A couple of years ago they played and defeated China the week before Algarve Cup. Fairly reliable information says that Djurgården this time will get the opportunity to play USA. Let’s see how it turns out.
